My Wednesday from Hell

This morning I prepared myself for a long day even though I had a bad feeling about it.  My morning started out actually great, I woke up in a wonderful refreshing mood and got dressed for work earlier than normal.  While driving to work with the window down enjoying the beautiful weather I keep telling myself to think positive about my day.  I already knew the evening before that I was going to be working with a doctor I really don’t like working with and I would not be able mostly likely to get to leave for school.  You see she is a older doctor and she does like change or moving at a fast pace.  I am very energetic and I don’t like moving at a slow pace. Once arriving and getting my station set up for surgery I then got the bad news.  I found out my patient had not arrived yet and there phone number was unreachable so I had no way of getting in touch with them.  I then looked to see if my doctor had arrived so I could tell her the news and she was nowhere to be found.  Come to find out she was late as well. I could see that my day was going to be very stressful from this point on.  After everyone involved in the surgery finally arrived we then was able to begin our day.  I had several cases to do and all of them were going to take a long time to complete. I was so happy that we finally got to start and all the equipment was working properly. About half was through the day I saw that I was going to be working late even though I tried to hurry the process up but I could already see that there was no chance of me getting off in time to go to school. I knew that this situation today at work was going to make me very upset because I hate being late and stressed out all day.  I really don’t like to be late to school because I feel like I am wasting my money when I have to pay out of pocket for my classes. Unfortunately after all the cases were complete  it was indeed too late for me to attend my classes so I decided to go home, take a nice hot shower , relax for a few minutes and go straight to bed.  Hopefully my day tomorrow will be better.

My horrible black eye

My weekend was so planned out for last Saturday, a day with my friends and cooking out.  Saturday morning I got up ready for a day of fun.  I got dressed and out the door I went, not know what my day would come to. After arriving to my friend’s house we began to plan our meal for the day and getting all the supplies.  Once all that was done and we got freshen up for our friends to arrive, the cookout could then began.  Once the cookout began we started playing some games on the WII.  We were all drinking and having fun until I got hit in the eye by the remote controller.  I could not get mad because I was just an accident but it hurt like crazy.  Everyone then stopped what they were doing to make sure I was ok but my eye was immediately turning red and started to swell. My friend felt so bad that she had hit me and then ran into the kitchen to get some ice.  I placed the ice on my eye but it was still throbbing.  I didn’t want to take any medicine because I didn’t want to mix the medicine with alcohol.  I knew that would not be an answer to my problem so all I could do is wait and hope the ice would help.  I then decided that I needed to just go lie down and relax with my ice pack for a while.  The next morning when I woke up, I just prayed to myself on the way to the mirror that it would not be black.  Guess what it was, my whole eyelid and even underneath was a little.   I was cussing to myself, I could not go outside and to work with a black eye.  I was so embarrassed on my way home because everybody was staring at me as if I had gotten beaten up.  This sucks!  After getting home and applying ice for a while longer, I saw then that it was not getting any better.   I was so relieved that I looked into my makeup bag for some help and found a brown shadow for my eye’s so I could cover it up.  I was so happy after applying my cover up because it did a great job. So everyday this weekend I have had to reapply several times throughout the day to ensure my black eye was not noticeable.  I was so relieved to work all week and nobody has even noticed. This morning when I woke up and looked and my eye was almost back to normal. Thank God because this had been the longest week of my life.

Spring Break

I am so excited that I am back in school and I can finally say “I am on spring break!”  Even though I don’t go on vacation I do try to enjoy myself.  Although, usually when I hear the words spring break that means I am working overtime and not relaxing at all.  I work at a pediatric dental office and we are very busy during the days that children are out of school.  I had so many things planned with my family and friends, even though I still had to work during the day.  I have been back in school now for three semesters and really don’t have a life during the week besides going to school and work. I was so ready to not have any classes, homework or quizzes.  The first few days went by so fast because I actually got a full day at work and I didn’t have to leave early to go to school.  By Friday morning my plans were made for the weekend. My friends and family had planned a very exciting event. On the morning of March 9, 2012, I had only planned on only working a few hours and being off between 10 and 11 o’clock that morning but things then changed.  I received a call around 11:30 a.m. from my mother saying that my grandfather was being transported to the emergency room and I needed to get there as soon as possible. My mom sounded nervous because my grandfather has many medical issues.  You see my big plan for this weekend was attending his 86th birthday party and now the family is headed to the emergency room.  I was so scared driving there because I knew my grandmother (who is 85 years old and hardly ever drives) was the only one there with him and she had to drive him.  Then I thought OMG my grandmother hasn’t driven a car in a long time. I was so thankful to be only a few minutes away.   Once arriving to the emergency room and getting triage by the nurse, we then immediately straight back for the exam by the doctor.  A doctor and nurse came into the room to check my grandfather’s blood pressure and oxygen levels.  At the time of his initial check, his oxygen level was a little low and his fingers and toes were numb and he was very pale. The nurse was concerned because of his history of high blood pressure, fluid problems and a pacemaker.  Several blood test and heart test were then performed. After several hours of waiting and being monitored the doctor, finally came in with the results.  Come to find out my grandfather was going to be ok; he was just a little dehydrated and needed some fluids.  Our family was so relieved because we had received good news that everything would be ok and we would be able to continue with his party. Along with his family and some of his friends attending the party, I could see how much better he was. I was so thankful he was ok to see his 86th birthday.
